About Me
I guess the first thing to do would be to tell you my name. Hi, I'm Jake, born Jacob Stephens Margle, but Jake is what everyone calls me. I'm 18 and a freshman here at the University of South Carolina. I was raised here in Columbia, South Carolina. In fact I only live about 25 minutes away from campus. Why USC? Well let's just say I lacked the talent and funding to get out of this state, but in all seriousness I really do like it here, a lot better than I thought it would. I also chose USC because from the moment I could think for myself, I knew the Margle tradition of men attending the Citadel was not a path for me. So here I am.
I am majoring in Print Journalism, which I hope to use to land my dream job as an automotive journalist. Hopefully I could write for magazines such as Motor Trend, Car & Driver, or Automobile. Cars, driving, the mechanics of it all have always been a passion of mine. I was always told that if you do what you love you'll never work a day in your life. I took this statement and ran with it, combining two things I love in this world: the art of the automobile and the art of writing.
I decided to take University 101 because it was highly recommended and I hoped it would ease the transition from high school to college just a little bit more. I also thought that with such a small classroom there could be no way that I couldn't make friends. I'm sure this class will help me form a basis here at USC, on which I can continually build.
